Fractional CMO. Digital strategist. Guitarist. For over two decades, I've helped brands find their signal — and performed on stages doing the same thing with a different instrument.
Fifteen-plus years leading marketing for brands that can't afford to get it wrong. From multi-location franchise systems to real estate brokerages to B2B infrastructure companies, I've served as the fractional CMO who builds the strategy, runs the tech stack, and stays accountable to the numbers.
Since the early 2000s, I've toured, recorded, and co-written alongside some of the Southeast's most respected artists. As a core member of Shawn Mullins' band — guitarist, bassist, and co-writer — I've tracked albums at a cabin in Georgia and played every kind of room there is.
"Earning attention, shaping a narrative, knowing when to lead and when to serve the song — that's the job in both places."
I work with growth-stage companies and multi-location brands that need senior marketing leadership without a full-time hire. I build strategy, lead execution, and stay in the room long enough to see it work.
Positioning, messaging architecture, go-to-market planning, competitive analysis. The thinking that makes everything else work.
GA4, Google Ads, Meta, GTM, Looker Studio. I build the measurement infrastructure and run campaigns that connect to actual business outcomes.
Embedded leadership for companies that need a CMO's judgment without a CMO's salary — across franchise, real estate, veterinary, and B2B markets.
I've been playing guitar professionally for over twenty years. Music taught me how to listen. Marketing taught me how to speak. Both stuck.
My longest musical relationship has been with Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Shawn Mullins. Over more than two decades I've been a core member of his band — playing guitar, bass, mandolin, and baritone guitar, recording at various studios, and sharing co-writing credits on songs like Sunshine.
Some of my best work happened live-to-tape on records made for Shawn Mullins and others — the kind of recording sessions that are getting harder to find. Between 1999 and 2006, I also recorded and released my own material. A chapter I don't talk about as much as I probably should, which included three studio albums and a live album.
I've spent my career at the intersection of creativity, technology, and business growth.
Growing up in Augusta, Georgia, I developed two lifelong passions that continue to shape who I am today: music and marketing. While they may seem like very different pursuits, both are ultimately about understanding people, creating meaningful connections, and moving audiences to action.
Music came first.
In the early 2000s, I began performing professionally throughout the Southeast. What started as a group of hometown friends making music together eventually evolved into a career that opened doors I never could have imagined. Along the way, I shared stages and projects with artists including Josh Kelley, Charles Kelley of Lady A, and Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Shawn Mullins.
For more than two decades, I've remained part of Shawn's musical orbit in various capacities — playing guitar and bass, recording albums, touring, and contributing to the creative process. Music taught me lessons that still guide my professional life today: listen first, stay curious, trust the process, and never underestimate the power of a great story.
At the same time, another career was taking shape.
As the internet transformed how businesses connected with customers, I became fascinated by digital marketing, consumer behavior, and the science behind decision-making. What began as freelance consulting evolved into agency leadership, where I eventually served as Vice President of Interactive Marketing and later Vice President of Partner Solutions at Truelio, a marketing technology and brand experience agency serving clients across real estate, construction, financial services, healthcare, and B2B industries.
Over the last two decades, I've helped organizations navigate digital transformation, build scalable marketing systems, improve measurement and attribution, and generate meaningful business growth. My work has spanned search marketing, paid media, analytics, CRM strategy, content development, location-based advertising, and executive-level marketing leadership.
Today, I operate as a fractional Chief Marketing Officer and strategic advisor through SignalWorks Marketing, partnering with a select group of organizations that need senior-level marketing leadership without the overhead of a full-time executive team. My clients range from one of the largest Century 21 brokerages in the Southeast to a fast-growing restaurant franchise with more than 100 locations, as well as emerging brands looking to accelerate growth.
Outside of work, you'll find me spending time with my wife Gretchen and our two sons, Patrick and Charlie, cheering from the sidelines of basketball and golf tournaments, playing guitar, or building marketing dashboards long after everyone else has gone to bed.
I've learned that whether you're writing a song, building a brand, or growing a business, success comes down to the same thing: understanding people and creating something that genuinely matters to them.
That's the work I love.
Whether you're looking for fractional CMO support, digital marketing leadership, or just want to talk through a challenge — I'm a good listener. Occupational hazard.
